Fire Stopping & Compartmentation Systems
Strutt Fireproofing Ltd offer a comprehensive range of fire stopping services to ensure building compartments, walls, floors, service risers and roof voids retain their fire protection.
Firestopping is to reinstate the Integrity and Insulation of a fire resisting element of construction at positions where typically substrates abut or have been compromised by MEPH service penetrations or where left void.
A Fire Stop is a passive fire protection system, typically formed of various same manufacturer components used to seal openings and joints in fire rated walls and/or floor assemblies, based on independent testing and 3rd Party Certification. Systems are designed to provide the required resistance at the point of service penetration or joint for Fire resistance period detailed maintaining the compartmentation. Where required air sealing, sound reduction and water permeability is also achievable.
Strutt Fireproofing Ltd capabilities in firestopping and compartmentation systems fall into five broad categories;
-
Penetration Seals
-
Linear Gap seals
-
Cavity Barriers
-
Flexible Fire Barriers
-
Fire Curtains

Thermal & Acoustic Fire Protection Systems
Strutt Fireproofing Ltd offer a comprehensive range of fire rated insulation solutions offering a lightweight thermal, fire and acoustic cladding insulation suitable for places such as external walls, soffits and roofs.
These include ventilated façade systems and built up metal wall and roof systems. The range of cladding insulation Strutt are familiar with also deliver fire protection and acoustic performance. Examples of most popular products used are Rockwool Duo Slab, SP Firestop, Hardrock and RW slabs.

Fire Rated Partitions, Drylining & SFS Structures
Strutt Fireproofing Ltd offer a comprehensive range of internal fit out works to provide compartmentalisation such as partitions, drylining & SFS construction work.
Partitions and drylining systems are a fixture in many commercial and residential buildings. They usually consist of metal-framed partitions, which our team can install in compartment walls to meet various functional requirements, including fire protection, improved acoustic performance and thermal insulation. Drylining can also revert a site back to its original state following the completion of a fire stopping project. Strutt Fireproofing often provides restorative drylining services as part of its specialist fire protection remediation service.
A structural framing system (SFS) is a fast track, steel stud construction solution, fixed as infill between the primary structural frame. SFS provides a carrier for exterior cladding, insulation, and interior boarding.
We also offer the Installation of Ceilings, which include:
-
Suspended ceilings using leading brands such as SAS ceiling systems;
-
Plasterboard ceilings on a metal furring framework; from leading brands like British Gypsum, Siniat and Knauf.

Intumescent Painted Structural Steel Protection
Strutt Fireproofing has the capabilities to provide reactive paint coatings to structural steel sections.
There are a range of materials and systems and this group may be sub-divided into two further groups, namely: Thin film coatings and thick film coatings.
Thin film coatings is specifically designed for the cellulosic fire condition and may be sub divided further into water based and solvent based systems.
Each system is typically applied by an airless spray in a number of coats to achieve the required costing thickness. Application may also be achieved by brush or roller.

Boarded Structural Steel Protection
Strutt Fireproofing Ltd offer a wide variety of boarded systems to provide up to four hours of fire protection with the added benefits of acoustic and insulation properties to meet individual requirements.
Fire boarding cladding systems are made from fire-resisting boards or stone wool to encase structural steel beams or framework in order to protect them from fire.
Fire boards are subdivided into several groups and a range of different densities. Each group of system types will have a fire resistance range of at least 2 hours and many will afford up to 4 hours covering most steel configurations and A/V section factors.
Different types of materials are used in the manufacture of such boards, which may typically be summarised as follows:
-
Manmade stone wool
-
Glass fibre reinforced gypsum
-
Ceramic fibre (in blanket form)
-
Calcium silicate with and without vermiculite
-
Fire resistant plasterboard
-
Bonded exfoliated vermiculite
-
Preformed
With the exception of the blanket (which may also be installed to follow the contour of a section profile) board systems are generally specified to 'box in' the section.

Mineral Coatings - Cementitious or Plaster Based Sprayed Structural Steel Protection

Strutt Fireproofing has the capabilities to provide non reactive mineral coatings to structural steel sections.
Mineral coatings such as Cementitious fire spray is a fast and efficient method of providing up to 240 minutes fire protection to structural steelwork. Used in the commercial, petro-chemical and tunnels markets, cementitious fire sprays withstand impact and abrasion, yet remain flexible to accept design changes without incurring major cost and time delays.
Spray/trowel systems are designed to remain in place without a change in structure throughout the pre-defined lifespan of the fire by absorbing the heat of the fire to maintain the steel temperature below that deemed as critical.
Dependent on type, some coatings are designed for both internal and fully exposed environments, certain of which are also specifically designed to tolerate hydrocarbon as well as cellulosic fire conditions.
The application of mineral systems is achieved through specialist pumps and for certain materials, traditional hand trowel technique.
Mineral coatings are generally used for application to steel and concrete frames, metal floors or roof decks and return air plenums.

Fire & Security Door Installation & Remediation
Strutt Fireproofing has the capabilities to provide the inspection, remediation and installation of fire doors.
Fire doors play a vital role in passive fire protection and compartmentalisation within both residential and commercial properties. They safeguard vital escape routes and provide essential protection against the spread of smoke and flames. Despite their importance in fire safety strategies, fire doors are often improperly maintained or used, highlighting the necessity for routine inspections and maintenance to ensure compliance with up-to-date fire safety regulations.
We not only handle the installation of your selected fire door but also offer certification and ongoing servicing to ensure it meets all necessary standards.

Cable Enclosures
Strutt Fireproofing has the capabilities to provide a range of Cable enclosures.
These are essential components of passive fire protection systems, designed to safeguard electrical and communication cables during a fire. These enclosures help contain and prevent the spread of flames, smoke, and toxic gases, protecting critical infrastructure and allowing systems to remain operational during emergencies.
Constructed from fire-resistant materials, cable enclosures are tested to meet stringent standards and are suitable for a wide range of applications, including commercial, industrial, and residential settings. By ensuring compliance with British fire safety regulations, they contribute to overall building safety and risk mitigation.
